*A note on classic tracks - it requires a surprisingly large amount of snow to set a classic track, around 8-10" of new snow, or some new on top of old, compacted snow. At least one classic track is set whenever possible, otherwise, it works better to let skiers ski in their own track. For 2011-12, the BNC had to decline to plan to groom Haystack due overcommiting volunteer groomers. Thanks to Haystack for being a great and enthusiastic partner.
